Thanksgiving: Dangerous Foods

« Return to News

We are all excited to have friends and family gathered around for thanksgiving. In all of your celebrations, don't forget about your furry friends! You may be tempted to allow them to participate in festivities. However, there are some dangerous foods and drinks that they should not be consuming while you are giving thanks.

For dogs:

  • Cooked bones (they can easily splinter and puncture an organ)
  • Alcohol
  • Cake batter
  • Chocolate
  • Grapes & Raisins
  • Onions
  • Nuts
  • Gravy

For cats:

  • Cooked bones (just like with dogs, they can easily splinter and puncture a part of their digestive tract)
  • Dough made from yeast
  • Alcohol
  • Chocolate
  • Onions & garlic
  • Grapes and Raisins
  • Nuts

The best way to avoid getting your furry friends sick from Thanksgiving celebrations is to properly store all of your food after you cook it (and keep it out of reach while you are preparing it).
