Labor Day Plans? Check!

« Return to News

As Labor Day Weekend is approaching, many find the long weekend as one to spend time with their family. If you don’t want to go too far out of the way for a fun-filled family weekend, don’t count out all of the great sights that the Commonwealth of Kentucky has!

If you’re feeling adventurous, check out one of the many State Parks that is not too far from the Lexington area. Some of these include: Lake Cumberland, Carter Caves, Red River Gorge, Kentucky Dam Village, Mammoth Cave, and Blue Licks Battlefield, just to name a few. Most of these sites offer hiking, camping, tours of caves, swimming, and boating.

If you’re wanting to visit another town, there are a few festivals going on that could be a neat experience for the family. WorldFest in Louisville offers its patrons an immersion of various cultures. From music, dance, and sampling of native foods, WorldFest is sure to be a good time. The Daniel Boone Festival in Winchester offers concerts, street dancing, talent contests, and fireworks! PG Riverfest in Cincinatti allows its patrons to watch fireworks, attend concerts, and walk along the banks of the Ohio River.

There’s a lot going on over the holiday weekend, so be sure to make some good memories!
