Cost Efficient Ways To Renovate

At any stage of living in your home or apartment, changing or renovating it can be good.  Don’t be fooled by magazines telling you to spend large amounts of money to change up your home; sometimes all it takes are a few tweaks here and there and you’ll notice a big difference. 

• A fresh coat of paint can dramatically change the mood of a room
• Painting the trim an unusual color is a great idea, too
• Or, if you’re feeling bold, paint the ceiling!
• Make all your hardware match, whether by color or metal finish – cabinet hardware, doorknobs, curtain rods, shower rods, etc.
• Give your old furniture more life by having it recovered or reupholstered
• Change out your decorative items, such as throw pillows and blankets
• Replace any outdated light fixtures or spray paint your pre-existing ones

If you need any furniture or other items for around the house, you can get them for a reasonable price, too.  You can find some good deals on Craigslist (even their “free” section has some good finds!), or any local thrift shops.  From Goodwill to Salvation Army, even to smaller stores.  Lexington has a number of great antique shops such as Room Service, Scout, and Sim’s Antiques.
